One thing we all have in common? We all love animals.
Big Sky Happy Tails is a small, locally ran, FOSTER BASED 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue. Our goal is to help the unwanted and forgotten animals of Missoula, MT as well as surrounding areas. Being small and foster based means we rely solely on YOU, our amazing community members willingness to open their homes and hearts to care for these poor animals. We hope to one day have a facility if we are lucky enough!
Our Story
Our rescue started in 2022 by our President and Executive Director Myranda. To put it simply we began because there was an overflow of animals in Missoula with no where to go and no one to help. With local shelters drowning in animals, housing getting more difficult to secure, and costs rising daily it was obvious the community needed an extra hand to help. In our first year we helped over 150 animals find homes and over 200 get spayed and neutered. Things were difficult and a little rocky in the first few years, but after a brief hiatus during 2024 to build a team and work out details of community programs, we're back and with new faces! As of June 2025 we have two more team members to help things run smoothly and get as much done as we can to help our community.

Myranda Fleming-Campbell
Hi I’m Myranda! I’ve been doing animal rescue for about as long as I can remember, getting very hands on towards the end of high school. I’ve always had a passion for caring for sick and injured animals. As of summer 2022 I became a vet assistant and have been learning as much as I can about vet care for animals since then, which has been a huge benefit to my rescue work. I started Big Sky Happy Tails a bit before my vet job, after seeing the need for another rescue in Missoula. I’ve had my ups and downs over the past 10 years of doing animal rescue, but helping animals and making a difference in the lives of friends and neighbors has made it all worth while! I am happy and excited to be back, helping the community and making the world a little better for animals.

Michael Boris
Hi, I’m Michael. I am new to the TNR scene, but I have been working with animals since I can remember. My very first job was working on a farm, and I have always loved being around and helping animals as much as I can. I have known Myranda since we were kids, and she now calls me the cat whisperer as I have accidentally rescued a few cats that otherwise would have been very difficult. I am so excited to be part of this community and am so privileged to have such a fantastic team to help me help our community as best as I can!

Andrea Decker
My name is Andrea! I have been an animal lover since I was a little girl, and especially have a soft spot for cats. I didn’t know much about rescue work until I started TNR for the first time in the summer of 2022, which is when I met Myranda, and quickly understood the rewards and hardships of it all. I have met some wonderful people through this community, and have been able to be a small part of many adoption stories, and that is was keeps me going through it all. I hope to continue helping our furry little friends and the communities they come from!

Cat Steven
Hey everyone I’m Cat Steven. I was one of the first frisky felines to be rescued by these guys and I’m certainly the best. I may only have one eye, but it’s honed in on making sure these humans are on their A game. When it comes to making sure us animals are getting EVERYTHING we could want I’m the ideal translator, you’d be surprised how bad some cat to human communications can go! I’m happy to be here, you can count on me for top of the line kitty purrrrsss and happy tails all around!
